This decadently dense and rich cake is made with the freshest of ingredients, many of them sourced from local suppliers, straight off the farm. Our Brandy Fruitcake is packed with the wholesome goodness that you have come to expect from our bakery, and is made with old-time care, from scratch. Filled with figs, cranberries, almonds, raisins, and other good stuff, you’re bound to love this fruitcake right down to the final crumb. We use only the freshest natural ingredients (no candied or canned cherries) and we never add preservatives.

Serving Suggestions

Once you get our Brandy Fruitcake home, you’ll notice that we have wrapped it carefully and that it makes a lovely presentation. In fact, that’s part of the allure of everything that we bake – opening it! Opening this cake is like a treat in itself, and is quite the experience for those on your gift list. You’ll notice that your cake is wrapped in cheesecloth. There’s a reason for that. It not only helps to preserve the integrity of the cake during shipping, but it also helps keep it moist and oven fresh. Your cake will maintain its freshness in your refrigerator for up to three weeks after opening it! We suggest that you slice it thinly and serve it up with a glass of fresh milk. Here in Vermont, fresh milk is as close as the nearest milk bucket, but any type of milk will do. You will also enjoy this Brandy Fruitcake with a piping hot cup of coffee or a steaming mug of your favorite tea or cider.


Ingredients

We think you’ll be impressed by the old-fashioned love and care that we put into everything that goes into (and comes out of) our farmhouse ovens. We start mixing our Brandy Fruitcake batter by using the best flour that has been ground from red winter wheat and that is sourced from a Vermont grower, Nitty Gritty Grains. Next, we add butter from a local creamery, and free range eggs from a local farmer. We pile in the fruits and nuts, including figs, raisins, cranberries (from a very interesting local cranberry farmer named Bob), almonds, golden raisins, currants, prunes, dates, apricots, orange peel, and lemon, and then just the right amount of E&J VSOP Superior Reserve Brandy to give this fruitcake a kick. And finally, we add our special blend of spices, ground fresh from our local co-op, before gingerly placing each small batch of fruitcakes in our waiting ovens. The rest, as they say, is culinary history as our cakes are removed from the oven, wrapped in cheesecloth to maintain their moisture and flavor, and make their way, ever-so patiently, from our door to yours.
