Serving Suggestions
This sweet, light and delicious syrup is perfect on morning pancakes, donuts, corn fritters, grapefruit, oatmeal and on our Caspian Crunch Granola. Serve it at lunch and of course heated over your favorite ice cream, yogurt or in your favorite hot beverage to add the natural sweetness of the Northeast Kingdom.
Now everyone has a million uses for maple syrup. It is a great addition to the breakfast table for pancakes, waffles, and sausage. It is wonderful over meats, in marinades, and as a sweetener in baking. But do try cooking your bacon in it. Add that bacon to lettuce, tomato, and toasted bread and you’ll have an awesome BLT that can’t be beat. For the holidays, hollow out a butternut squash. Put the squash in a baking dish with a little bit of water and bake until the squash is about half-cooked. Add a tablespoon of butter and maple syrup to the cavity (as much or as little as your tastes desire). Next, cover with tin foil and cook until tender. Serve this sweet spin on a classic and even your children will eat squash! And of course, you can’t forget the timeless classic, “sugar on snow.” Fill a shallow pan with clear snow or crushed ice run through the blender or food processor. Meanwhile, boil the syrup on the stove until it reaches the soft ball stage (or firms up on a plate). Use a spoon to drizzle over the snow. Pick up the toffee-like candy and enjoy!
